The award is given to recognise its “outstanding contribution to the Biomass Energy Sector”. The prize was officially awarded on the 5th of May in Lyon, during the 4th Biomass Industry Forum, by Tord Fjallstrom, EUBIA President, to Björn Fredriksson Möller, Project Manager of E.ON Gasification Development AB.
E.ON Gasification Development AB has been chosen this year for its active involvement in biomass gasification development for decades. The Värnamo demonstration plant in the 1990’s being one example. Today, its main interest relates to, but is not limited to, large-scale production of Substitute Natural Gas from woody biomass, which is seen as a complement and further development to E.ON’s commitment to biogas production from fermentation. The development of biomass gasification is performed within E.ON Gasification Development, a wholly owned subsidiary of E.ON Sverige. The primary targets include planning for a large-scale production unit in Sweden, called Bio2G, participation and co-ownership of the GoBiGas project, as well as still being one of the key drivers behind the plans to make the Värnamo demonstration plant into a national research facility for biomass gasification. Further on, the E.ON’s view is to continue its investments in the environmentally best available transport fuel today and make a substantial contribution to the fuel roadmap in Sweden and EU the coming decades. |
