The Group’s ambition is to be the leading industrial partner of international customers, to design equipment and develop its overall performance through a combination of expertise maintenance and engineering.
Research & Development: Preparing for the future
- In parallel with the policy of growth through acquisitions, CMI is continuing to invest part of its resources in the long-term diversification of its activities. The areas investigated are focused on the environment, with the treatment of urban and industrial sludge and the production of energy from biomass:
- The idea of intelligent Maintenance is more and more on the agenda. It consists in supplying industrial equipment provided with monitoring instruments that supervise the wear of components and hence, the appropriate planning of preventive maintenance operationsThe market will definitely appreciate the added value of this concept, in which CMI is combining the thoughts of its teams and partners
- The Group made significant progress in 2005 in structuring its proposals in the field of modernisation, overhauling and transformation of steel industry equipmentThe first step was made through the creation of a team especially dedicated to this activity by combining resources from both Engineering and Maintenance.
The CMI Group is involved in an R&D programme aimed at developing a tube welding overlay process using super alloys. The result is a strengthened tube that has a service life multiplied by three or four. This new technology will find many applications, namely for the superheated tubes of incineration units.
