Over the past decade Aqua Enviro has been at the forefront of the development and implementation of anaerobic digestion in the UK, involving both the development of new technologies and the successful implementation of AD for new applications.  This has been recognised through contract awards with UK Water Industry Research (UKWIR) and the UK Government Waste Resource Action Program (WRAP), with these including ‘Impacts of Co-digestion’, ‘PAS 110 Consultancy Support’, ‘AD & common pests & diseases’ and ‘Technical Assessor – Driving Innovation in AD’.  Most recently we were awarded ‘Cost Benefit of Digestate Use’ which includes CBA and LCA of novel technologies for nutrient recovery from digestate and AD liquors.

Aqua Enviro pilot trial projects have included the process verification of the £26m thermal hydrolysis plant at Bran Sands for Northumbrian Water, food waste and MBT digestion facilities and high rate AD processes for complex liquid effluents.  At present we are commissioning two of the largest THP-AD plants in Europe and recently operated a granulator pilot plant to generate enhanced fertiliser product from digestate as part of the EU FP7 End-O-Sludge project.
