On 31 of March, members of the SEDEC commission adopted the own-initiative opinion on “The local and regional dimension of the bioeconomy and the role of cities and regions” . The rapporteur Ms Katrin Budde (DE/PES), underlined the potential of bioeconomy in fostering independence from fossil fuels, counteracting climate change by means of carbon neutrality, creating growth and jobs, meanwhile calling for better synergies between European, national and regional bioeconomy initiatives.
This opinion contributes to the review of European Commission’s Bioeconomy Strategy and relevant action due in 2017.
