Both macro and microalgae are increasingly being considered as a useful source of biomass for a number of industrial purposes. The aim of this one day event will be to get a better understanding on how algae fit into the current biomass industry and how they could contribute to a sustainable bioeconomy in the future. Therefore, technological but also legislative bottlenecks should be addressed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Discussions will be focussed around several and varied key questions and bottlenecks. These are provided as a guide and are not only limited to the following:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

–H<\/span>ow does \u2018farming\u2019 algae compare and fit with other agricultural crop production?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

–A<\/span>lgal biomass cultivation \u2013 which fitting technology fits with which application?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>-Large scale algal biomass conversion methods \u2013 which are economically viable and energy efficient?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

-Algae in wastewater treatment \u2013 bioremediation \u2013 is this the future for algae?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

–W<\/span>hich are the most likely industrial applications?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

–W<\/span>hich algal biofuels have a future?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

–W<\/span>hat are the options for algal biorefineries?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

–W<\/span>hat are the impacts on the environment and how do these compare to other biomass crops?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
