EU Recognition for Bioenergy Leadership

In January 2004, the European Commission awarded the 2003 Renewable Energy Campaign for Take-Off Prizes, recognising outstanding projects advancing renewable energy across Europe.
The awards were presented during the European Conference “Intelligent Energy Options” held in Berlin (19–21 January 2004), marking the conclusion of the EU-wide campaign after four years of successful initiatives promoting clean energy solutions.
Among the distinguished winners was the World Network on Bioenergy – A Global Renewable Energy Partnership, a major international initiative led by the European Biomass Industry Association. The project brought together a wide network of partners to strengthen global cooperation and accelerate the deployment of bioenergy solutions.
At the ceremony, Loyola de Palacio praised the winners’ commitment to renewable energy and encouraged continued efforts in light of the European Union’s expansion and evolving energy challenges.
