EUBIA Awards

Since 2000, EUBIA has awarded an annual prize to companies that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to supporting biomass development at the commercial and industrial level.

Founded in 1996, EUBIA is an international non-profit association bringing together technology providers, knowledge centres, and market actors active in the biomass sector. The association promotes the use of biomass as a sustainable energy source by developing innovative bioenergy concepts, fostering international cooperation, supporting industrial interests, identifying new market opportunities, strengthening European policies, and contributing to job creation and environmental protection.

The EUBIA Award was established in 2000, at an early stage in the development of the biomass sector. Its purpose has always been to recognise companies and organisations that have demonstrated significant achievements in advancing biomass technologies and their industrial deployment.
The award was traditionally presented during the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE).

As of 2020, the EUBIA Award is no longer conferred.
In continuity with the values and objectives that inspired the EUBIA Award, the Giuliano Grassi Prize for Excellence in Biomass Industrial Deployment has been established in memory of Dr. Giuliano Grassi, who dedicated his life to the market deployment of biomass and to the creation of the European Biomass Industry Association (EUBIA).
This international award honours scientific, technical, and managerial excellence in the industrial deployment of biomass processes, recognising long-term achievements and impactful contributions to the sector.

The Giuliano Grassi Award therefore represents the natural evolution of the EUBIA Award, continuing its mission with a renewed focus and a strong symbolic identity.

A selection of past EUBIA Award recipients and editions will remain available as part of EUBIA’s historical archive, preserving the legacy of excellence that has shaped the bioenergy community.
