EMINENT2

eminentEM2

The idea of the project dates back to 2003 when the first project , “EMINENT”, was launched by DG TREN.  From the success of its predecessor, EMINENT2 aims to: identify and accelerate the introduction and implementation of leading edge European energy and environmental technology into the market place in Europe and worldwide.

The acronym EMINENT stands for: Early Market Introduction of New Energy Technologies in Liaison with Science and Industry.  It also aims to bridge the gap between European research and development centres and the energy industry while also reducing the lead time for the introduction of new technologies and concepts

It will additionally try to strengthen the European industry and policy institutions.  It will establish regional networks of expertise and disseminate information on early stage technologies by several communication channels and set-up an EST (Early Stage Technologies) Database assessment tool.

Each partner of the project has to identify a renewable energy technology in their field and put it into the assessment tool.  The tool will analyse the feasibility and validity in terms of carbon emissions of the technology based on the technical data fed into the tool.  Policy recommendations will be made to further enhance market penetration of these technologies.
